good day drawing in the MECA studio - electric sockets as my inspiration.

one of the many things i love about my studio space is having the city holiday lights right outside of my window. happy happy happy.

what i did on my thanksgiving vacation: lots of crochet and spending good time outdoors with family. priceless. can you spot the kids in the top photo?

staying with family for the thanksgiving holiday. this is a throw quilt i made a few years ago for my step-son. nice to look at work after i haven't seen it for a while. no drawing this week...getting crabby. GRATEFUL for so many good things and people in my life.

Stitched Books

revisiting some books i made a few years ago. these are 4" square each; made from magazines and paint, thread and found objects. i didn't draw today...where did the day go? i took a beautiful brisk walk through town to whole foods and was so absorbed i missed the gigantic christmas tree being set up in monument square.

thursday. yesterday i forgot to post. i had the most delicious dinner at bonobo pizza with my good friend edwige. did we have pizza? no. we had their annual seasonal special: pumpkin cheesecake, topped with real whipped cream...yum! i did not eat it with a pitchfork, but i felt like drawing the fork that way.

today we had guest speaker sam messer from yale and cooper union. since he is known for his paintings and drawings of other people in context, i decided to do a quick line drawing of him while he was talking to a class!









and last drawing is a drawing i did at my desk. was feeling really melancholy today...missing the best guy in the world, who is away for a few days. this drawing completely cheered me up.

got good feedback on my crit today. i think i heard the word 'sophisticated!' found out what is so unlikeable about the painting on the left...it's the surface - the stuff underneath the paint. hmmm...took a trained objective eye to point that out to me. always good to have others comment on my work. i'm gonna miss that alot.

these are studies for the paintings i have been doing- acrylic paint with sharpie on cereal box cardboard. yes, backwards. did the paintings from sketchbook drawings first, then made formal studies. i will present all of them at a crit tomorrow...probably my last one for a loooong time.

ahhh! this painting is really changing! having fun playing around with it to see what comes up.

drawing. drawing. drawing. another day at the dentist...only this one not so good. warm weather for fall. ate a delicious lemon pepper dark chocolate bar brought to me from switzerland with love.

took a little trip to new york to spend time at dia beacon. beautiful building on the hudson river full of great art. very fun road trip. and now i am working on finishing up this painting that i started last spring. voted today.

had a good time working on this painting today. i think it is finished. any opinions out there?

my painting is morphing. i got rid of the chair and added this character. will spend much of tomorrow working on it...can't wait.

today's doodles. i love drawing with a chisel point sharpie. these are shapes from various things on my desk. today was a happy bday!

...oh, and i also crocheted a scarf this weekend. single crochet. made with beautiful wool silk blend yarn from halcyon yarns. love sitting with my best guy, my girls, the doggies, and the best grandson; hanging out crocheting. hmmm...maybe the colors in my scarf are the same as the colors in my painting.

back from a weekend with ghouls and goblins and hugs and kisses. this is an 8" square painting from last year. oil paint. my work with lists. i am thinking about going back to the list work, or exploring it more.
